Personality:
Ardyn begins as a man of mystery. As the powerless chancellor of the enemy empire, he makes a statement in how his true power has nothing to do with what power or strength the empire would allow him (because the answer would then be minimal). Ardyn's true ability is in his information and charisma. He is very good at talking to people and making friends. The thing he probably likes more than that is to help others. Why, even those coins he was giving away in the beginning turns out to be far more helpful and useful in the future than anyone could have realized.
If anyone were to describe him off their first impression of Ardyn, it would be that flamboyantly queer uncle who buys you presents, but you're sure is still really shady. He's loud and exuberant, a character that gesticulates big and wide with smiles to match. His clothes are a little strange and old-fashion, his speech very proper and thought out with those pinpricks of sarcasm. The air of someone important or 'different' definitely exudes from him in every way. Getting to know him a little more doesn't change that much. He’s not one for the outdoors, fairly protective of his vintage car and who he allows to ride with him, but more than willing to get his picture taken or camp out with the boys should the occasion call for it.
As chancellor of the empire, his job seems to be more a suggestion box and a person follows orders more than anything else. He's overlooked and has done far more to help the persisting Prince of Lucis, and the common man for that matter, than he has given much thought to aiding his employers. Far too many times has he flown to Noctis' aid (sometimes quite literally) to help him out of interesting binds. It usually comes off odd, creepy, and maybe even somewhat off-putting. Yet, he never seems to ask for anything in return or give any sort of reasoning why his best interest seems to be Noctis' prevalence. After all, Noctis fights for his kingdom, and that in turn should protect the interest of civilians.
That is, until his help takes a hard right turn.
It never truly stops being 'help', mind you, but it certainly does start taking on darker tones. The perky tones and helpful tidbits edge with something angry, dark, and patronizing. His actions turn heinous, but always focused. The world begins to crumble, but that just slightly off smile of his stays the same. You begin to really understand what's happening, or at least you hope you do.
The manipulation, hate, and lack of concern for others starts to shine through. A man whose love and desire for the well-being of the common man has been driven out of him through tortuous time. He hardly needs to get his hands dirty to see the world on it's knees before him. What's probably more frightening is his complete lack of desire for control, power or any of the normal villainous lusts. His aid helps a much larger picture than any individual person. The many for the few; the few for the many: it’s the same thing to Ardyn so long as it truly ends.
Ardyn operates under a desire for revenge and retribution against gods that betrayed not only him, but the world they pretended to serve. Every move and action he takes is calculated in it's means to an end. Be it giving dangerous information to a kingdom just to see it destroy itself with greed, or torture Noctis on his journey to Gralea; Ardyn has a purpose for every hand he deals. Yet shows of violence and power are rare and far between for him, usually made to upset someone else. For being so powerful physically and mentally, he very rarely, if ever, has to be aggressive to prove his worth.
Yet, despite his wickedness and heartlessness, his own torment leaves him sometimes far more soft-hearted than he'd like to own up to. There’s never a point he seems to enjoy the work he does. The monotony of life has ebbed in pleasure long ago. Although he’d like to expedite his plans, he provides more than enough time for those he opposes to enjoy themselves and find enjoyment.
All in all, despite the darker parts of his personality onset by time, betrayal, and willing corruption for the good of others, he’s a very pleasant and helpful person.
Abilities and Nerfs: Ardyn has quite a bit under his belt that he has going on. First and foremost, he's very smart, a strategist that doesn't need to use force or violence to win people or control events around him. Just the opposite, actually. He uses his high charisma and silver tongue to control everything around him. You know, despite only coming of stranger-dangery, over enthusiastically homosexual, and extremely patronizing.
His abilities only begin there. I'll start this off by saying I'm not going to nerf these abilities unless otherwise noted due to his own self restraint and how he chooses not to show ay of these until Noctis is strong enough to handle it (due to his true desire). Ardyn is an immortal that can’t feel pain. The only times he can feel it is when he being "killed", and even then it's only slight and fleeting. Being a god and having god-like ability is not enough to bypass it. Only Noctis can hurt him.
It's a mistake to think he's unable to fight back (like he'd lead to to believe). Ardyn holds all of the power of a Lucis king. This includes the ability to call on the royal arms at any moment he see's fit, warp striking, a mastery of using each weapon type and practical combat usage. This also comes with a pocket space that you can store almost anything you desire in. Due to his personal hatred of the gods, he would never call on their powers like other Lucian King's can. That being said, he is a messenger of Ifrit, and thus can still use him if the time called for it. This ability will be nerfed to the very apparent lack of Ifrit's presence.
This train doesn't stop there! It should, but it doesn't. Now we get onto the 'accursed' part of the whole 'immortal accursed' shebang. Because he was a healer back in the day, he's collected a lot of the starscourge in his body. This has granted him a myriad of things he never wanted. He can call and summon deamons (people infected with the Starscourge's health deteriorates until they die as humans and are reborn as deamons) as he wishes. Somewhere in all of this he's also able to cast illusions, and talk to people mentally without being around.
He's got a lot of tricks and uses ... almost none of them 90% of the time.
Inventory: His clothes, hat, car keys, and one-winged monstrosity. Anything else is in his Lucian Pocket Space of Holding.
Appearance: Why so many layers?? you ask yourself, Why is the wing necessary?, Sometimes he looks like this
Five Desires:
1. To be able to die
2. To feel pain again
3. For Noctis to be Sterile (you think he's kidding, don't you)
4. To be cured of his infection
5. A car like his old one http://i.imgur.com/36JDnC1.jpg

[ He was right about the top of the tower being a good view point. It seemed logical to scale the highest point and see what you could see, right? Ardyn took a look around from the top of Fantasia and merely smiled. Who could have known such a cozy little spot would await him there? Deciding to enjoy it while doing his work, he moved slowly, swaying as he stepped, looking up to the stars before he started looking at the city below.
It was hard not to notice the stars for many different reasons. Firstly, he recognized none of the constellations or patterns. Nothing was in the right place, but that was fine. The feeling of not knowing was invigorating. Secondly, they were certainly beautiful. The tower-top was a great place to enjoy the view.
Ardyn chose not to sit, yet. He grabbed a drink and went to stand near a rail, eyes up to the view, one arm crossed over his body with the other elbow resting on it. His hat was in the free hand, leaving his view unobscured.]
Now that is a beautiful sight, wouldn’t you agree? A romantic and almost personal view. It must be quite popular with the younger people.
